The Black History Month Programs at KISD have been remarkable. These programs have showcased some of our amazingly talented students and the speakers have been very inspirational. Our community should be proud of the efforts made to celebrate diversity. Thanks to all the ones behind the scenes whose hard work made these events possible.
A huge thank you for all the folks involved in the KISD Foundation Banquet and Fundraiser. It was a tremendous event that resulted in a packed house at the Meadowbrook Ballroom. It was encouraging to see the community come together to raise funds for technology for our schools, and Cara Cooke and her husband did some pretty lively two-stepping on the dance floor!
KMS will celebrate its Academic UIL teams with a special lunch this week. They had 18 teams participate in a variety of subjects including Calculator, Spelling, Science, Dictionary, Art and One Act Play. KMS scored 3rd place over all. They also received 3rd place in 6th, 7th and 8th grades as well. One Act Play placed 4th overall. We appreciate all the time and effort involved in preparing for these events for the teachers, as well as the students.
Students at Chandler Elementary were treated to a demonstration by the “Stream Trailer” that came from A&M Agri Life. This trailer gave the students opportunity to see how streams worked as see erosion happen right before their eyes.
