Suspect allegedly rammed cruiser with officer inside

An alleged gate-crasher was arrested last week, accused of spearing his vehicle into a Kilgore Police cruiser.

Jailed July 16, Nathaniel Giovanni Tang was released days later on bonds totaling $85,000 for three charges including aggravated assault on a public servant following an incident that also caused an estimated $14,000 in damage early July 15.

The event took place in the 1100 block of Dudley Road shortly after midnight that Sunday morning.

According to KPD Lt. Johnathan Gage, “Tang drove his white 2017 Toyota Corolla into one of our police units, with an officer inside it, before crashing through a gate at a residence.”

The 25-year-old Lindale resident reportedly caused about $12,000 in damage to the driveway gate and other items on the property in addition to about $2,000 damage to the KPD vehicle.

Incarcerated July 16 and released from Gregg County Jail July 21, Tang was initially charged with criminal trespass and criminal mischief valued between $2,500 and $30,000 with bonds of $10,000 and $25,000, respectively. The aggravated assault against a public servant charge was added later, carrying a $50,000 bond.
