Memorial services for Stephen Eugene Wiloughby, 87, of Kilgore will be held on Saturday, January 14, at 2 p.m. at McCary’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Liberty City under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Willoughby passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016 in Longview.
Stephen was born on April 18, 1929, in Louann, Ark., to Charlie and Adell Willloughby. He graduated from Sabine High School. He met and married the love of his life, Shirley, and they spent the next 66 years making many happy and loving memories. Stephen enjoyed reading, working in his yard, golf, bowling and wood working. He was a longtime and faithful member of McCary’s Chapel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed being a volunteer at UT Health Center in Tyler and he also served as President of the UT Health Center Volunteer Association. His family was the source of his strength and spending time with them was when he was happiest.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley, of Kilgore; sons and their wives, Forrest and Mickey Willoughby of Keithville, La., Sam and Toni Willoughby of Liberty City, Clyde and Tami Willoughby of Liberty City; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers and their wives, Louis and Nettie Willoughby of Houston, Clifford and Diane Willoughby of Frisco. Also left to carry on his legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other loving family members.
Mr. Willoughby is preceded in death by his parents.
