Sabine ISD will host a public meeting on its mandatory Internet safety policy when trustees gather for their monthly session Monday.
The meeting in the Sabine Administration Board Room begins at 6:30 p.m. and the April agenda includes a vote on a resolution for the ongoing development of a District of Innovation designation for the district.
The school board members hosted a public hearing on the DOI moniker during their March 23 board meeting (find the story in the Kilgore News Herald’s digital archives via tinyurl.com/SabineDOI). Monday’s vote will be the next required step in the state-directed process, the official appointment of a district committee to develop the school’s customized District of Innovation plan.
The board members will also vote on a revised, simplified lease agreement with the Sabine Youth Sports Complex for ongoing use of the school’s softball field.
According to a memo from Supt. Stacey Bryce to board members, “There have been many changes and updates to the complex over the years that now will allow us to simplify the Lease Agreement with the organization.”
Find a copy of the lease agreement in the April 10 board meeting packet available for download at KilgoreNewsHerald.com. The document, if approved, sets a 60-month backdated lease covering Jan. 1, 2017, through Jan. 1, 2022, with the annual rent of the field (including electricity, water, insurance and routine maintenance) set at $3,000 per year.
The board’s action items also include a vote on Update 107, “recommended changes to local policies on topics including gifts and fundraising, employee and contractor misconduct, employee suspension and expense reimbursement, and student compulsory attendance and wellness policies,” according to the meeting packet.
Another vote focuses on textbook adoption while information and discussion items cover Globe Teachers of the Year, district and campus news, accounts payable for March 2017 and a litany of upcoming events.
