The National Society of High School Scholars has tapped Kilgore High School’s Jamaria Thomas to join the organization, which spotlights “top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship and community commitment.”
According to a press release from NSHSS, all honorees become lifetime members of the organization, which follows them from high school to college and career to help connect young scholarship with resources to help encourage their strengths and passions.
Thomas, a four-year student of Kilgore College’s Upward Bound program, is the daughter of Jeremy (Nataya) Thomas of Kilgore and Crystal Hutchings. The KHS senior is the granddaughter of Toni Perry as well as Carlton and Ann Hutchings of Longview.
Thomas participates in varsity cheerleading, basketball, track and other clubs at the school. She’s undecided on which university she’ll attend toward a major in Neonatal Nursing while she plays basketball.
“We are very proud of Jamaria’s achievements and hard work,” her family said in the press release. “We all wish her God’s blessings and prosperity.”
