Portion of Kilgore loses power

SWEPCO at work on repairs, reports 2,200-plus dark

[UPDATE: At least some power was restored at 4:55 p.m.]

More than 2,200 of SWEPCO’s Kilgore customers are without power following an outage that began at 3:30 p.m. Monday. The current estimate for the flow to be restored is 7:30 p.m.

One of the utility’s customer service representatives confirmed the outage and provided a four-hour estimate on restoration.

Kilgore Police Officers are working with City of Kilgore streets employees to put caution signs at traffic lights that have been impacted.

“North Street to 259, the lights are out,” according to KPD radio traffic, and the outage apparently extends at least as far as Woodlawn.

A number of businesses on either side of 259 have gone dark as well, including Kilgore College and East Texas Police Academy. KDOK seems to be off the air.

At least one SWEPCO crew is working at a substation off Hwy. 259.
