Services for Murrell Renfro, 72, of Gilmer were Tuesday, August 28, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater. Interment followed at Union Grove Cemetery.
Murrell was born in Lufkin on September 2, 1945 to the late Johnnie and Buck Renfro. He went to be with Lord on Friday, August 24, 2018. He was a carpenter by trade and later worked in the oilfield before retiring. He found enjoyment with the simple things in life such as music, fishing and hunting. He also loved cooking for family and friends. Murrell was always willing to lend a helping hand, expecting nothing in return. Most of all, he loved his family and will forever be missed.
Murrell is survived by his children, Jason and Devan Renfro of Kilgore, Michelle and Tim Delaney of White Oak, Debbie John of Gilmer, David Renfro of Gilmer, Sabrina Barker of Kilgore, Rita Bell of Kilgore, Kenneth Hopkins of Kilgore; grandchildren, Kobe Renfro, Katelyn Renfro, Madison Renfro, Ryker Renfro, Jaylen Lewis, Ethan Lewis, Peyton Laake, T.J. and Serenity Delaney, Staten and Linsey Delaney, Brittany and Brad Benton, J.J. Renfro, Amber, Kelly, and Amanda Barker, Jan and Mike Ruiz, Patricia and Brandon Tolbert, Keith and Niki Hopkins, Shanna and Ryan Overturf; 29 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Edward Rice; brothers, Delbert Renfro, A.J. Renfro Jr., Byford and Melba Renfro; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members. Murrell also had many close friends that he considered Family.
In addition to his parents, Murrell was preceded in death by sisters Jessie Whitehead, Effie Pixley, Lily Emerson, Lula Faye James and Mildred Stanberry.
