Kilgore splits with Lindale, Van; at home Tuesday

The Kilgore High School tennis team played a couple of matchups over the last week, falling to Lindale, 13-6, but beating Van, 10-6.
“We pulled the last three matches off (the court) because of lightning,” KHS coach Jason Maroney said.
Kilgore will host Gladewater and Trinity School of Texas on Tuesday, after school here at the courts beside KHS.
Against Van, it was again the Bulldogs’ boys lineup pulling out a lot of wins; the boys swept both the doubles category against the Vandals, winning all three matchups, and the singles matches, as well.
Jack Tyra beat Van’s Stan Dupreez, 6-0, 6-1; Trystan Dobbs beat Hunter Perry, 6-4, 6-3; Kelton Kelley won, beating Austin Everding, 6-2, 6-1; Kalen Ray beat Nick Pinkerton, 6-2, 6-0; and Maison Landaverde beat Tristen Baumgardner, 6-1, 6-1.
Kilgore’s girls didn’t fare as well. Cheyanne Jones, playing in the number one girls singles slot for KHS, beat Van’s Shelby Jung, 2-6, 6-3, 11-9, but the remainder of the Kilgore girls – Mary Bess Mercer, Madalynn Parrymore, Chloe Hillman, Samantha Linkinhoker and Avery LeMaire – all either lost, or had their matches pulled due to the weather. Van also took all three girls doubles matches.
Jones and Hernan Galvan won the mixed doubles matchup for Kilgore, beating Jacob Knight and Klaryssa Morris, 6-1, 6-1.
