VOLLEYBALL
KHS at Brook Hill Friday

The Kilgore High School Lady Bulldogs are about through with their non-district schedule this year, and have one more matchup with which to tune up: they’ll play a varsity-only date at Brook Hill in Bullard on Friday. That’ll begin at 4:30 p.m.
Kilgore (7-11 this season, including tournament games) comes off a Thursday-Saturday tournament in Brownsboro. The Lady ‘Dogs, coached by Lacy Coldiron, lost to Rains on Saturday, but then beat Quinlan Boles.
In those two matches, Jada Abercrombie had 14 kills and four blocks; Lauren Bryant had 27 service points and five aces; Skyler Day had 14 digs; Dayton McElyea had five kills and three blocks; Nicki Rawls had 30 assists, and Ashton Vallery had 24 assists.
Kilgore was to host Pine Tree on Tuesday night, following the deadline for this issue of the News Herald. The Lady Bulldogs will open District 16-4A play at home next Tuesday night against Henderson, starting with freshmen at 4:30.

HI-STEPPERS
Camp next Saturday at KHS

The Kilgore Hi-Steppers will host their annual dance camp for girls in kindergarten through fifth grade on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 8:30 a.m. until noon at the drill team room.
The cost is $30 per camper, $50 for two family members, and a camp T-shirt and snack is included ($10 extra to have a camp shirt “blinged”). The camp will conclude with showoffs at 11:30 a.m.
Campers are invited to sit with the Hi-Steppers at the home football game on Oct. 19 against Henderson. They will also take part in the victory line before the game.
