Lady Bulldogs finish well in all-district

Kilgore High School’s softball team made the Class 4A playoffs for the first time in 10 years this season, and saw some of that hard work reflected in the District 15-4A all-district team, chosen recently by the district’s coaches.

Bailey Hedges was named freshman of the year, and a lot of her teammates were honored, as well.

Kristen Wilson was named first team pitcher, and Miah Thomas, first team infielder. Mackenzie Harrison also got first-team honors, making first team outfield.

Elizabeth Idlett and Gracie Gossage, the team’s two seniors, were recognized, as well; Idlett made second team catcher and Gossage second team designated player. Also voted to the second team were infielder Hailee Jo Lewis and outfielders Tra’Kaila Graves and Alyssa Whitington.

Honorable mentions for Kilgore were Genna Cavanaugh, Destiney Mendez and Bailey Downing, who likely would’ve made a big impact for KHS if she hadn’t been injured.

Academic all-district choices were Cavanaugh, Downing, Cerenity Exline, Graves, Harrison, Hedges, idlett, Lewis, Mendez, Jaely Skiles, Diamond Smith, Thomas, Sydney Barnes and Kaden Downing.

Kilgore softball is coached by Cheyenne Kirkpatrick.
