Funeral services for Lee Edward Jackson, 69, of Tyler, formerly of Kilgore, will be held at noon, Saturday, January 6 at Kilgore Baptist Church with Rev. Efrem A. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Kilgore Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Victory Funeral Services.
Lee, also affectionately known as Bubba and Sugar Bear, was born to James Edward French and Willie Mae Pierce in Kilgore on Tuesday, November 30, 1948 and died Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at The Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.
Early in life Lee united with Kilgore Baptist Church where he served until his health failed. He received his education in Kilgore Public Schools with graduation in the C. B. Dansby High School Class of 1967.
For several years he was employed at Trane Corporation and Kilgore Independent School District. He later gained employment and completed his working days as a security guard and later as a painter at Tyler Independent School District until faced with medical retirement.
Preceding him in death are his parents and four brothers, James Curtis Sanders, Edgar Jackson, Adell Jackson and Fonzell “Woot” Jackson.
He remains in the hearts of his daughter, Anjail Jackson of Tyler; ex-wife, Evon Jackson of Tyler; stepsons, Cassidy Wade and Xhazera “Mandy” Wade, both of Tyler, and Curtis Lee Wade Jr. of Dallas; one stepdaughter, Becky Thompson of Tyler; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice Kelly and husband Louis Sr. of Kilgore, Kathryn Champion and husband Freddie of Norfolk, Eva Lois Iles of Dallas, and Betty Reddic of Longview; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be Friday, January 5, from noon until 7 p.m. at Victory Funeral Services. There will be no wake.
