Johnny Wynn Austin

Johnny Wynn Austin of Kilgore passed away December 23, 2017.  Johnny was born in Kilgore on October 22, 1949.  He was the son of Dr. John C. Austin and Lanore Leach Austin.

Johnny spent many years working in the construction industry.   He was employed for a number of years by H. A. Lott, Inc.  While employed by Lott, he had supervisory responsibilities for a number of major projects, the most notable among those being the Frank Erwin Center on the University of Texas campus in Austin, Texas.

He was particularly fond of East Texas.   His early years growing up in Danville on the family farm with his grandparents Ras and Dutch Leach were great memories for him.  After living in Pasadena, Nacogdoches and Austin, he returned to Kilgore over a decade ago.  During the last few years, he has again enjoyed the pleasures of the family property as well as the company of his good friends in the area.

Johnny was preceded in death by his mother and father.  He is survived by his sister, Debi Moses and her husband Mike of Bullard, as well as his brother, Larry, of Kilgore.  He is also survived by two nephews for whom he had much affection: Mitchell Moses, his wife Laura, and two daughters, Mae and Martha and his family of Fort Worth, and Mason Moses, his wife Whitney, and three sons, Miles, Parker and Reid of Round Rock.

A visitation will be held at Rader Funeral home in Kilgore on Friday, January 5 from 6-7.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to charity of choice.
