Services for Mrs. Alice Gray Hardee, 92, of Kilgore, were held Monday, August 28, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Rev. Paul Michael Vacca officiating. Interment followed in the Kilgore Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Hardee completed her earthly journey on Saturday, August 25, 2017 in Kilgore, surrounded by her family.
Alice was born on August 28, 1924, in Deberry to Henry and Nanny Bell Barnett. She took care of numerous children during her adult life and touched many young lives by being a mother and grandmother to all. Alice enjoyed dancing, especially to the music of “her man” Frank Sinatra. Her family was the source of her strength and spending time with and cooking for them was when she was happiest. She will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives that she has touched.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Johnny H. Hardee of Baton Rouge, La., Beverly Monroe and husband David of Kilgore, Peggy Bradshaw of Liberty City, Chris Hardee and wife Linda of Liberty City; siblings, Ellen Whitten of Kilgore, Rose Ashberry and husband Royce of Kilgore; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Hardee of Liberty City, Susie Hardee and Shannon Seay of Longview, Wayne Knight of Kilgore, Cindy Hefner and husband Roger of Kilgore, Chuck Dudley of Liberty City, Tracey Knight and wife Gina of Kilgore, Scott Hardee and wife Caroline of Liberty City, Roy Dudley of Kilgore, Jeff Hardee and wife Chelina of Liberty City, Jenny Hardee of Baton Rouge, La. Also, left to carry on her legacy are numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and other loving family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Johnnie C. Hardee and sister Hazel Shepherd.
