The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded Kilgore College with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
“I want to commend Fred Gore (vice president of administrative services and chief financial officer) and his team for a terrific audit,” said Dr. Brenda Kays, KC president. “We are very confident in the way we manage and document our finances according to GFOA standards and are proud to be recognized for our commitment to transparency and the public’s trust.”
The annual GFOA recognition certifies that KC’s financial audit is prepared in accordance with guidelines recognized by nationally established standards.
The comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
According to its website, the GFOA is a major professional organization servicing the needs of nearly 19,000 appointed and elected local, state and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners.
It provides top-quality publications, training programs, services and products designed to enhance the skills and performance of those responsible for government finance policy and management. The association is headquartered in Chicago, Ill., with additional offices in Washington, D.C.
