KHS gets PT sweep

History was made at Kilgore High School gymnasium Tuesday night when the Kilgore Lady Bulldogs volleyball team swept Pine Tree.

The Lady Pirates, who tormented Kilgore for years when they were district rivals, couldn’t take it to a fourth set, as Kilgore won, 25-17, 25-22, 25-19.

Jada Abercrombie had 13 kills and 10 digs; Miah Thomas had eight kills; Lauren Bryant had four aces and 18 service points; Rylie Mann had 11 digs; Mackenzie Cavanaugh had 11, too; Shelby Page had 11 assists; and Nicki Rawls had 10.

Kilgore lost its final non-district matchup of the season Friday afternoon at Brook Hill, but the Lady ‘Dogs, coached by Lacy Coldiron, are still 9-13 on the season. They begin District 16-4A play at home on Tuesday night against Henderson – that’s also Kilgore Middle School night, where KMS players are admitted free.

Freshmen play at 4:30. Junior varsity and varsity will follow.
