Kilgore Historical Preservation Foundation has canceled its ‘Barbecue, Beer & Bands’ fundraiser set next weekend.

Tickets will be refunded as soon as possible – anyone who reserved a seat should contact the KHPF board member who set them up with a spot.

The event was a fundraiser for the foundation’s efforts at the Old U.S. Post Office on South Kilgore Street, and plans are in the works for future activities.

“Meanwhile, there are some great activities on tap for Saturday, Sept. 15,” KHPF announced in a Thursday afternoon release, “including the 2018 Special Abilities Family Fun Event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Commerce Street and what’s sure to be a great show from the Cody Wayne Band at the Back Porch that Saturday night.”

The foundation’s next event, the annual ‘Very Derrick Christmas’ lighting of Kilgore’s star-topped derricks, is set the evening of Thursday, Nov. 15, and includes the return of the ‘Snowzilla’ slide and other family-friendly activities.
