There were several reasons Kilgore College football was entertaining to watch in 2017, and one young man was near the top of that list.
Now, he's getting recognition for it.
Linebacker Troy Burnett, a sophomore for the Rangers, has been named an NJCAA All-American, and a member of the first-team defense, to boot.
In nine games played this year, Burnett had 102 tackles, a sack, an interception and a forced fumble. Burnett has been one of KC's centerpieces in both of his seasons here.
Burnett is one of just five players from the Southwest Junior College Football Conference that made this year's first-team All-American list. The others: Navarro offensive lineman Levon Livingston, Trinity Valley offensive lineman Matt Martin, Blinn defensive lineman Antwuan Jackson, and Navarro defensive back Benjie Franklin.
