Kilgore College will hold its second and final public hearing on the college budget and tax rate for the 2018-2019 fiscal year on Thursday, August 30 at 6 p.m.
The college is required to hold two hearings on the tax rate and budget to allow members of the public to comment. No members of the public made comments at the first hearing at noon Friday, August 24.
The proposed tax rate is the same as last year. However, increased property values in the tax district will mean more revenue for the college, prompting the need for public hearings.
The budget is slightly larger than last year’s budget, due to significant investments in the college, including campus beautification, enhanced IT infrastructure, student success initiatives and pay raises for all college staff.
The second and final public hearing will be held in the R.E. ‘Sonny’ Spradlin Jr. Executive Board Room on the first floor of the McLaurin Administration building on the KC campus.
