KC Business Department redesigns curriculum to better meet business, industry needs

Kilgore College’s Business Department has redesigned its curriculum to streamline offerings, make it more student-friendly and ensure its students are prepared to excel in today’s businesses and industries.

The KC Business Department previously offered 13 awards in accounting, management and business. The new curriculum will consist of four awards – two degrees and two certificates.

The Accounting Program has been strengthened to provide students with a more focused approach to the associate of applied science degree and certificate of completion.

The Management Program has been combined with the Business Program and is now called the Business Management Program. Business Management will consist of an associate of applied science degree and a certificate of completion.

On March 22, the Business Advisory Committee approved the change of the program’s name to become the Accounting Program. The committee also approved the new accounting curriculum.

On March 23, the former Management Advisory Committee approved the combined business and management curriculum, as well as the change of the program’s name to Business Management.

The KC Business Department will continue to offer a field of study in business for students who wish to transfer to a university to seek a bachelor of business administration degree.
