Services for Jean Lambert Evans, 85, of Kilgore will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 20, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends David Hampton and Dudley Plaisance officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery. Mrs. Evans passed away Monday March 13, 2017 in Kilgore.
She was born April 10, 1931 in Shreveport, La., to the late Roy Earl Lambert and Verna Sue Clegg. Jean graduated from East Texas Baptist College(ETBU)in Marshall with a Bachelor of Music and received her Master’s in Art from Stephen F. Austin Univeristy.
Mrs. Evans was an organist and pianist at many local churches including First Baptist Church of Kilgore, as well as Crossroads UMC, Laird Hill UMC and Pirtle UMC. Jean and her husband founded the Kilgore Saddle Club in 1961. She taught music and art in Kilgore schools for 33 years. Mrs. Evans will be fondly remembered by generations of students she taught in Kilgore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.J. “Jack” Evans; brother, John Lambert, and sister-in-law, Shirley Lambert.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Kay Evans of Kilgore; daughter, Tami Evans Bolding and husband Jeff of Kilgore; brother, Charles Lambert of Shreveport, La.; sister-in-law, Woodie Lambert of Shreveport, La.; four grandchildren, Jarrod Evans and wife Tara of Pearland, Texas, Jaclyn Evans Clare and husband Matt of Pearland, Texas, and Josh Bolding, Jacob Bolding and Jack Lloyd Bolding, all of Kilgore; great-grandchildren, Avery Evans, Mason Clare and Madelyn Jean Clare, and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Kilgore, 501 E. North St. Kilgore, Texas 75662 and Pirtle United Methodist Church, 11278 County Road 173 N, Overton, Texas 75684.
The family will receive friends at the Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore on Sunday afternoon between 4-5:30 p.m
