Jean Bilderback

Velma Jean Flickinger Bilderback was born October 18,1926 in Arkansas City, Kan. She grew up in Kilgore and graduated from Kilgore High School.  She attended Kilgore Junior College and was a Kilgore Rangerette.  She married Robert Bilderback and eventually moved to Friendswood, Texas, where she lived for over 40 years.  She was the owner/operator of “The Daisy Patch,” a children’s clothing business in Friendswood. Later she worked for Chevron, ultimately retiring to care for her mother.

Jean was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Alvin, Texas, for over 30 years. She was a member of Daughters of the King, and she assisted with the church newsletter, participated in the Easter Egg and Pumpkin Patch fundraisers and the Meals on Wheels program.  She was also active in the Friendswood Senior Citizens program. Jean’s last 10 years were spent in Shreveport, La., enjoying her son’s family and making new friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett William and Marie Opal Flickinger, and is survived by her son, Karl Bilderback and his wife Laura of Shreveport; daughters, Becky Green of Friendswood and Kathy Day of Houston; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was buried at Kilgore Cemetery, Kilgore.
