James (“Jim”) Francis AuBuchon Sr. passed away from natural causes on Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, at his home in Kilgore, surrounded by his family. A memorial mass will be held for Jim at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Longview with Rev. Mark Kusmirek officiating and Dr. Bill Holda eulogizing. Family will receive friends from6-7:15 p.m. Friday evening at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore, followed by a Rosary.
Jim leaves his wife of 54 years, Marianne (Burger) AuBuchon; son, Jim AuBuchon Jr. and his wife Sharon AuBuchon; daughter, Jenise Chipman and her husband Zac Chipman; daughter, Michelle Wiley and her husband Kendall Wiley; daughter, Cheryl Burge and her husband Steve Burge; and son, Michael AuBuchon and his spouse Shane Proch-Wilson. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, Brian AuBuchon, Kyle AuBuchon, Lexi Chipman, Lane Chipman, Matt Shutt, Megan Wiley, Katie Wiley, Lauren Burge, Sean Burge, Henry AuBuchon-Wilson, and three great-grandchildren, Aubrey Wiley, Isaac Shutt and Eli Shutt.
Born and raised in Bonne Terre, Missouri, the son of Cletus and Opal AuBuchon, Jim relocated to Kilgore three times during his career as a Chemical Specialist, finally settling down in 1987. As a member of the Army Reserves, Jim attended community college in Farmington, Mo., on a basketball scholarship. He then attended Southeast Missouri State, where he met his future wife, Marianne Burger. After school, Jim began working for Tretolite Chemical Company in St. Louis, Mo. Tretolite then moved Jim and Marianne to Kilgore for the first time in 1965, where through the years he worked for various chemical companies. Jim had a passion for camping, fishing and Texas A&M football.
