Memorial services for Ida Hicks, 91, of Kilgore, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, at First Presbyterian Church, Longview, with Rev. Kendal Land officiating, under the direction of Cunningham Funeral Home.
She was born to the parentage of the late Lonzo (L.H.) and Armanda Holland Hicks on March 3, 1926 in Kilgore. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Longview.
Her educational journey began at North Chapel, and her collegiate journey included Bishop College and Howard University. She worked with numerous organizations including the Democratic Party, Urban League of Pasadena, and served on committee to elect Shirley Chisholm to the United States Congress. She died December 2, 2017 at a Longview hospital.
She leaves to cherish her memories daughters Ricci Jones-Alford (Willie) of Las Vegas, Nev., RoChelle Ceballos (Edmund) of Kilgore, Nancy Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif.; three grandsons and 10 great-grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
