Historical Pirtle BBQ offers crawfish, music, more later this month

The Historic Pirtle Bar-B-Q is back Saturday, April 27, with three hours of beef, crawfish, desserts and live entertainment from returning favorites, the men of Nouveaux Cajun Xpress.

Set from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pirtle United Methodist Church, the annual event boasts the “Best Bar-B-Q Around” for $15 per plate, including a barbecue beef sandwich plus sides of beans and potato salad with iced two. Cakes and pies will be available for an additional charge.

For guests looking for a different sort of savory, seasonal fare, the event also includes Cajun-boiled crawfish.

The meal is eat in or take out, and those who stay are invited to “climb aboard a new Louisiana music Xperience” with the visiting band’s combination of an authentic Cajun sound and zydeco music – they specialize in “swamp pop,” says Pirtle UMC Pastor Dudley Plaisance.

The church is located one half-mile south of Kilgore on Hwy. 259. Visitors headed away from town will turn left (east) on County Round 146 and continue to the intersection of 146 and CR 173 N.
