Services for Dorothy Nell Hamman, 87, Overton, were held December 27, 2018 in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Atwell Hankins officiating. Burial was in the Overton City Cemetery.
Mrs. Hamman passed away, Monday, December 24, 2018 in a hospice facility in Tyler. She was born November 11, 1931 in Rusk County to the late J. B. and Opal Lee Dickerson Thompson where she lived most of her 87 years. She graduated from New London School in 1949 and from Houma Beauty School in 1961. She retired as a beautician after 32 years and was a mother and a homemaker. She enjoyed her many 1st cousins and she was a member of the Overton First Baptist Church. Dorothy also enjoyed following Hoot around to different music venues to watch him fiddle.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Hamman was also preceded in death by her son, Gary Lynn Hamman.
Survivors include her husband, J. H. 'Hoot' Hamman of Overton; daughter and son-in-law, Celita Hamman and John Sharman of Tyler; a granddaughter, Kara Sharman Grace of Tyler; grandson and his wife, Micah and Emily Sharman of Tyler, three great grandchildren, Claire Grace, Bryant Sharman and Caroline Sharman all of Tyler; and a host of cousins and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Micah Sharman, Mike Ammons, Randy Gaut, Wayne Knighton, Steve Knighton and Ricky Grambling.
