Cremation arrangements for Mrs. Dorotha “Dot” Miller, 88, of Liberty City are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. A private Celebration of Life will be held by the family. Mrs. Miller completed her earthly journey in her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, February 8, 2018.
Dot was born on December 18, 1929, in Ada, Okla., to Clarence and Ada Head. She was a 1948 graduate of Kilgore High School and received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. She taught at Pine Tree High School until her retirement.
Dot was very generous with her time, love and resources by volunteering for various organizations like Roy H. Laird Memorial Hospital and The White Elephant in Kilgore. She was a longtime Christian and member of First Baptist Church of Liberty City. Seeing a need in the community for seniors, she created and led a senior’s exercise program at the church. She was a mentor at Sabine Elementary School and sponsored children who lived overseas.
Her family was the source of her strength and spending time with them was when she was happiest. She was especially dear to her grandchildren who called her MaMa. Her passing has left a great void and she will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives she has touched.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Robert Miller and his wife Marsha of Liberty City, Ron Miller of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Brian Miller, Mark Miller, Avery Miller and Elena Miller; great-grandchildren, Scott Miller, Joshua Miller, Jake Miller, and a brother, Al “Bubby” Head of Murchison. Also left to carry on her legacy are numerous, nieces, nephews, friends and many other loving family members.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents, husband Pat Miller, sister Peggy Hierholzer and brother Clarence “Junior” Head.
