Services for David William Whipkey, 54, of Kilgorewill be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 20, in the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Danny Menges officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. David passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 in Dallas.
David was born on November 29, 1963 in Clarksburg, W.Va. Mr. Whipkey worked for Norris Cylinder for over 30 years. He attended Bar None Cowboy Church and served in the US Army. Some of David’s biggest joys in life were spending time with his grandchildren and the rest of his family but his greatest joy was his wife and best friend, Maureen. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time in the woods.
David was the most selfless, kind, loving, and giving person; words cannot express how huge of a heart he had. He was a loving and caring son, husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather and will truly be missed by all that knew him.
David is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Whipkey; brother, Robert “Bob” Whipkey, and nephew, Michael Grant Whipkey.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Maureen Whipkey of Kilgore; daughters, Lauren Whipkey of Kilgore and Shauna McKinney of Lake Jackson, Texas; sons, David William Whipkey II of Tyler and William Davis of Shreveport, La.; father, Boyd Lee Whipkey of Clarksburg, W. Va.; sisters, Marion Bland and Lori Riddle, both of Clarksburg, W. Va.; brothers, Vincent Whipkey and Paul Whipkey, both of Clarksburg, W. Va.; grandchildren, Hunter Whipkey, Hayden White, Cade, Cayman, Charley, Judd and Audrey; great-granddaughter, Aibree Davi,s and other numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members.
