The Coterie Club of Kilgore met February 22 at the home of hostess Tina Zapata. Members were greeted by Zapata and co-hostess Sharon Williams. A delicious assortment of Italian themed refreshments was served.

The program was given by Margaret Cibele, titled “Southern with an Italian Twist.” Margaret shared the interesting background of her husband, Dr. Francisco Cibele. A native Italian, Dr. Cibele spent his first five years in Malo, Italy, living with his mother and uncle while his father was stationed in Sicily during World War II. During the war, his father was captured and held as a Prisoner of War in Northern Africa.

She shared wonderful family photos and memorabilia. Dr. Cibele’s family moved to Argentina when he was five. Later, at the age of 26, he relocated to the United States to become proficient in English. Eventually, he moved to Kilgore and established a successful medical practice and married his Southern bride, Margaret.

President Francye Phillips led the business meeting and called on Secretary Liz Lockhart to share the minutes from the previous meeting. Treasurer Ann Dorney presented her report. The next meeting will be on March 22 at the First Baptist Church Parlor with Karlene Gunn serving as hostess and Carolyn Martin as co-hostess.
