Kilgore Main Street's annual Fridays After 5 concert series is looming, with a blend of country and bluegrass opening the monthly shows April 6.

The members of the Harvest Moon Countrygrass Band were eager to perform on the World's Richest Acre, City of Kilgore Events Coordinator Sonya Trout says, and they'll be featuring the Bethlehem Bluegrass Band in an 8 p.m. concert the first Friday in April.

"They are absolutely all for Kilgore," Trout said. "They love coming to Kilgore and performing here. They're very supportive of the Main Street Program and helping out whenever they can.”

The next month, Fridays After 5 will open with a 7 p.m. performance by the Kilgore High School Orchestra May 4 before the second annual FA5 Cinco de Mayo show beginning at 8 p.m.

The details of June's concert on the first of the month are still being nailed down, and while arrangements are in progress for the live entertainment at the city's July 4th celebration, August's concert is set with classic rock band Teazur bringing more crowd-pleasers to the run of shows Aug. 3.

Local favorites The Purple Hulls will close the Fridays After 5 series with their acoustic country and bluegrass Sept. 7.

"We're super excited to start Fridays After 5," Trout added. "We're hoping to create a more festive atmosphere at Fridays After 5 to encourage people to come downtown ... to just give it more of an interactive experience as well as the music."
