A Celebration of Life for Chuck Darden, 61, of Kilgore, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 29, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Rev. Dudley Plaisance officiating. Interment will follow in the Pirtle Cemetery. Mr. Darden completed his earthly journey on Sunday, March 25, 2018 in his home.
Chuck was born on November 14, 1956, to Charley and Virginia Darden in Kilgore. He graduated from Kilgore High School in 1975. He was an over the road truck driver for Conway until his retirement. Chuck enjoyed woodworking, camping, golf and watching westerns. Having the nickname “Grizzly” he loved anything that was bear related.
He was a faithful member of Pirtle Methodist Church in Kilgore where he played the guitar and sang in the choir. Chuck enjoyed cooking and was an avid chili cook and he was the head of the CASA chili cook off. He also was the head of the Pirtle Methodist Church gumbo cook off and he enjoyed boiling crawfish.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Falyn Jones and her husband Jason of Longview, Haley Darden of Austin, and a niece, Ashley Spencer and her husband Coy of Arp. Also left to carry on his legacy are numerous fellow church members and friends.
Chuck was preceded by his parents and brother Dennis Darden.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 until 7 in the evening.
