Services at the graveside for Charlotte Rae Heatherly, 88, of Kilgore will be held on Monday, February 26, at 10 a.m. in the Rusk County Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Stephen Gibson officiating. Mrs. Heatherly completed her earthly journey on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Charlotte was born on June 11, 1929, in Lulling, Texas, to Chester and Bessie Cobb. She graduated from Leverett’s Chapel High School, received a Bachelor of Education from North Texas State and a Master of Library Science from Texas A & I. She taught school for 35 years in New London, Edna and Premont. She also was Premont High School librarian for 18 years. Charlotte enjoyed collecting numerous things, including many books, and she loved to read all different genres of writings.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Denise Gibson and her husband Stephen of Coppell, Mark Heatherly and his wife Jeanne of Honolulu, Hawaii, Terry Heatherly and her husband Constantine Marinos of Kilgore; grandchildren, Anne Gibson of McKinney, Katie Macaulay and her husband Dane of Austin, Tyler Heatherly of Long Beach, Calif., Claire Heatherly of Seattle, Wash.; brother, Mike Cobb and his wife Emma of Hillsboro; sister-in-law, Sherrill Cobb of Frisco. Also, left to carry on her legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other loving family members.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne Heatherly and brother Charlie Cobb.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 until 5 in the afternoon on Sunday.
