Kilgore Chamber of Commerce has added a new award to the slate of honors at this year’s Star Gala: the 2018 accolades will also include a local Educator of the Year.
The chamber is seeking nominations for that spot and four other categories including: Small Business of the Year (commercial or retail with 25 employees or fewer), Large Business of the Year (commercial or retail with 26-plus workers), Industry of the Year (manufacturing, distribution, oil and gas, etc.) and the longtime Citizen of the Year honor.
“Educator of the Year is actually an award that has followed me in my chamber career,” says chamber president Jill McCartney. “It’s just a great way for the business community to realize that education is a huge part of who we are and what makes our quality of life important.”
Nomination forms for all the awards are available from the chamber – email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 903-984-5022 – and are due Friday, Sept. 14. The gala is set Oct. 15, in Kilgore College’s Devall Student Center Ballroom.
“We’re focused on nominations and sponsorships right now. The invitation for the event will come out in a couple of weeks.”
