Bettie Slaughter Reynolds

Funeral service for Mrs. Bettie Slaughter Reynolds, 89, of Kilgore will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, at The Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Reverend DudleyPlaisance officiating. Interment will take place following the funeral at 3:30 p.m. at Grange Hall Cemetery in Marshall. Mrs. Reynolds passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018.

Bettie Slaughter Reynolds was born April 18, 1929 in Marshall to Jimmie Jackson and Nanny Kate Sypert Fyffe. She married Sam Slaughter in 1947 and together they built a business, Slaughter Woodworks. For 20 years she worked in retail sales.

Bettie was a member of Pirtle United Methodist Church. In 1998, she married Horace Reynolds of Pittsburg. She loved singing hymns with her church family. One of her hobbies was taking family pictures and later in life going to senior citizen dances. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters Eva Rasberry, Nancy Kersey, Mary Ethel Fears and Nora Lea; and brothers Reuben Fyffe, Jadie Fyffe, and Romy Fyffe.

She is survived by her husband, Horace L. Reynolds; children, Kim Gore and husband Willard, Robin Huskey and Vince Slaughter, all of Kilgore; grandchildren, Blake Gore (Lissa), Erin Gore, Tanya Hudson (Toby), Marissa Huskey, Vincent Slaughter, and Crissy Hunt (Andy); great-granddaughter, Lily Hunt; brother, Richard Fyffe and his wife Dorothy; sister-in-law, Vera Fyffe; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends who loved her dearly.
