Au Courant continues First Lady topic with Trump

Club Au Courant met for its monthly meeting on Feb. 15 in the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church Fireplace Room. Hostess Micah Mitchell served a delicious Valentine’s brunch.

President Jean Robertson led members in the club collect. Treasurer Kay McKinley gave her report and also stated that a donation had been sent in memory of Marcella Harkrider. After the January minutes were read, both reports were approved. There was no old business.

Several items of new business were discussed. The club will look into providing books to each of the libraries in the city. Also, there will be changes in the program for 2017-18. Motions were made and carried.

Agnes Oliver gave a very informative program on Melania Trump, the third wife of President Donald Trump. She was born April 26, 1970 in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. She began her modeling career at the age of 18 and married Donald in 2005 in Florida. It has been reported that she speaks six languages.

She is the second foreign born First Lady of the United States following Louisa Adams who was born in London and was the wife of John Quincy Adams. It remains to be seen as to what she will accomplish as First Lady of the United States.

Members in attendance were Marion Dovel, Kay McKinley, Micah Mitchell, Agnes Oliver, Clemmie Richards, Jean Robertson, Pat Sers and Koleta Kinney.
