Angris “Al” Lewis Minor Jr.


Funeral services for Angris Lewis Minor, Jr., 82 of Longview will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, August 11, at Faith Tabernacle of God in Christ with Bishop James Dancy officiating and Pastor Larry Kenney as eulogist. Interment will follow at the Veterans National Cemetery in Dallas. Arrangements are under the direction of Victory Funeral Services.

Angris, more affectionately known as Al, was born to Angris Sr. and Mable Daniels Minor on Saturday, April 18, 1936 in Kilgore. He died Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Christus Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview.

He was a member at Faith Tabernacle of God in Christ.

Although he was born in Kilgore, Al attended public schools in Salt Lake City, Utah, where they moved for his father's job. After graduating from West High School, he returned to Texas to attend Texas College.

In 1961, he entered and served three years in the United States Army as a Medical Corpsman. His full service concluded in 1966 in the Reserve.

After his military service his work career included employment with Longview Independent School District and retirement from Kilgore Independent School District. He also worked at Pak-Sher and PTI Transportation for Union Pacific Railroad for a short while.

His parents preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Glenda Gayle Minor of Kilgore; daughters, Leslie Rena Minor and Elaine Minor, both of Houston, and Genae’a Minor Dean of Longview; sons, Steven Minor and Jerric Minor, both of Longview; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be Friday, August 10, from noon to 6 p.m. at Victory Funeral Services.
