LONGVIEW – The Sabine High School soccer playoff foundation officially begins in 2019. Coach Luke Strong’s Cardinals, just a handful of years in existence, have climbed the ladder quickly, and have qualified for the University Interscholastic League (UIL) playoffs, earning a second-place finish in District 16-4A with a 4-1 win over Spring Hill here at Panther Stadium on Tuesday night. more

Though it was a feat Larry Perkins claimed was going to happen over the last several years, no one thought it would really happen – the State Farm agent did it, though, retiring last week after 38 years. more
Kilgore Intermediate School students will soon get a chance to learn about science while having fun along with their parents at the KIS STEM Academic Carnival Tuesday, March 26, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) subjects are an important part of the curriculum and the carnival will introduce students to these topics in a fun way. more

Services for James E. Harvey, 93, of Kilgore will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Glenn Young, Dr. Pete Freeman and Rev. David Hampton officiating. Burial will follow in Kilgore Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday morning between 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at Rader Funeral Home. Mr. Harvey passed into Heaven Tuesday, March 19, 2019 in Longview, Texas. more
The Kilgore College Commercial Driving Academy is now enrolling students for two upcoming classes – a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Permit class beginning April 2, and a CDL Class “A” Training Program beginning April 9. Grants and Veterans Affairs (VA) payment benefits are available for qualified applicants to cover the costs of the classes. more

On Monday, Kilgore’s emergency management coordinators began their detailed study to property damage following Thursday’s vicious early morning storm. Kilgore PD Sgt. Terry Linder and Kilgore FD’s Michael Stanley will be reaching out to homeowners to get detailed estimates on which houses are salvageable and which ones aren’t, says Kilgore City Manager Josh Selleck. more
The fact that no serious injuries were sustained after last week’s severe storm is being called a miracle. Kilgore Police Department Victim Services Coordinator Jonathan Latham visited dozens of people affected by the storm and saw firsthand the extent of the destruction caused by straight-line winds which struck Kilgore at about 3 a.m. last Thursday. more
Months of hard work may finally pay off for Kilgore students at this week’s FFA Project Show and Sale. Set for Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23, the event will give students a chance to show off the animals they have raised and the projects they have constructed for judges and for potential customers. more
