Kilgore Intermediate School students will soon get a chance to learn about science while having fun along with their parents at the KIS STEM Academic Carnival Tuesday, March 26, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) subjects are an important part of the curriculum and the carnival will introduce students to these topics in a fun way. more

The Kilgore College Commercial Driving Academy is now enrolling students for two upcoming classes – a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Permit class beginning April 2, and a CDL Class “A” Training Program beginning April 9. Grants and Veterans Affairs (VA) payment benefits are available for qualified applicants to cover the costs of the classes. more

On Monday, Kilgore’s emergency management coordinators began their detailed study to property damage following Thursday’s vicious early morning storm. Kilgore PD Sgt. Terry Linder and Kilgore FD’s Michael Stanley will be reaching out to homeowners to get detailed estimates on which houses are salvageable and which ones aren’t, says Kilgore City Manager Josh Selleck. more
The fact that no serious injuries were sustained after last week’s severe storm is being called a miracle. Kilgore Police Department Victim Services Coordinator Jonathan Latham visited dozens of people affected by the storm and saw firsthand the extent of the destruction caused by straight-line winds which struck Kilgore at about 3 a.m. last Thursday. more

Set for Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23, the event will give students a chance to show off the animals they have raised and the projects they have constructed for judges and for potential customers. more
As ‘Sam’s Law’ makes it way through the Texas Capitol, locals here are casting a line to raise more funds for the scholarship in honor of the Kilgore High School student. Samantha Watkins died in December 2016 followed a sudden seizure. Family, friends, classmates and other supporters have kept her memory and legacy alive through events like “I Play for Sam” and in legislation sponsored by Rep. Travis Clardy and Sen. Bryan Hughes, under consideration now in Austin. more
