Neither Kilgore High School track and field team won their district championship this year – the Spring Hill boys won their division, and Gilmer’s girls won theirs – but the Bulldogs had enough outstanding performances in last week’s District 16-4A meet at Spring Hill that several of them are moving on to the area meet. Area is also at Spring Hill, and it’s Wednesday. Field events will begin at 10 a.m., and running events at 1:30. The top four from area will move on to regionals at Texas A&M-Commerce on April 26-27. more
COLLEGE SOFTBALL KC home today, rain shuffles things Kilgore College softball will play at home today against Northeast Texas Community College, a 1 p.m./3 p.m. doubleheader that had originally been scheduled for last Friday, altered by rain. more
Kilgore competed in the District 16-4A tennis tournament last Thursday and Friday at Longview High School, and a few Bulldogs will be moving on to regionals. Jack Tyra and Kalen Ray edged out teammates Trystan Dobbs and Kelton Kelly to capture the boys doubles district championship. Boys doubles has been a forte of Kilgore tennis coach Jason Maroney since his arrival some 12 years ago, as Maroney has guided a few doubles teams to the UIL state tennis tournament in College Station. more
Wow, it’s just like 2011 again… or 2016, or 2017. Heck, pick a year. It seems like Kilgore has been to the UIL state soccer tournament for 10 straight. The Bulldogs actually missed a state tourney trip last year, after winning a state championship in 2017. But the mission of the Kilgore soccer program to get back Georgetown is rolling along, and steamrolling opponents that get in the way. more
With a cast of VIPs in the crowd at Driller Park, the Kilgore High School baseball team flexed its muscles a bit Friday night, and an old rival was on the receiving end. For the second time this week, coach Eugene Lafitte’s Diamond ‘Dogs topped Henderson, this time, 13-2 – Kilgore had run-ruled the Lions earlier in the week in Henderson, 11-0. more
Midway through the District 16-4A schedule, having lost back to back games, the Kilgore High School softball team needed a win badly. They got it. Kilgore blasted Spring Hill, 18-5, in Longview on Friday, completing a sweep of the Lady Panthers this season. KHS is 15-7 on the season so far, and 3-3 in district play. more
