Kilgore jail facility undergoes changes

Nearly four months after Texas Rangers began investigating the suicide of a Kilgore inmate, Ronnie Moore, Kilgore director of public safety, says the city holding facility has undergone some changes.

Thousands turned out last night for the Kilgore Christmas Parade. Kids lined the streets for candy and the thrill of the lights of Christmas. The parade is made possible by the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce. (For more photos of the event see page 8)

Hopson keeps seat after Nov. election recount

It appears incumbent State Rep. Chuck Hopson, R-Jacksonville, will keep his seat following a recount of the Nov. 4 election ballots. Though the final numbers have not been posted on the Secretary of State's Web site, Hopson said his poll watchers have confirmed he is still the winner of the District 11 spot in the House of Representatives.

New virtual store a reality, prepares to break ground

A virtual store will become reality just north of Kilgore when a family trio breaks ground within the next couple of weeks on the first-ever LawnStation store. The 16,000-square-foot building will be a $1 million investment for Doug Clark Sr. and his sons, Daniel and Doug.

'Live Nativity' to be presented at Pirtle Methodist

Last year, for the first time, the community of Pirtle, just south of Kilgore, attracted crowds of onlookers for a live depiction of the birth of Christ. Every year, some people are concerned about Christmas becoming too commercialized. That's not likely to happen in the rural East Texas community of Pirtle.

Coach Davia Garrett's Lady Bulldogs lost at Canton, 70-39, and coach Jimmy Williams' Bulldogs lost their home opener to Gladewater in overtime, 48- 45.

Coach Paul Bell's Sabine High School Lady Cardinals proved Tuesday that the school's boys basketball program isn't alone: there's some very good basketball being played by both Liberty City teams.
