LONGVIEW BOY DOES GOOD - Texas first baseman Chris Davis scores on an RBI sacrifice fly by Ian Kinsler in front of White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski in the ninth inning of a Major League Baseball game on Monday night in Chicago. Davis, a Longview native called up to the majors a few weeks ago, helped the Rangers beat the White Sox, 6-1. The teams play again tonight at 7 p.m., and on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Davis made such an impression on Rangers management that, while he was only originally called up to fill the vacancy left by an injured Hank Blalock, his play has forced manager Ron Washington to keep him in the lineup. Blalock and Josh Hamilton both hit home runs for the Rangers against the Sox on Monday.
