Students have been directed back inside Kilgore Middle School following a reported fire in the building Tuesday afternoon. Kilgore Fire Chief Johnny Bellows confirmed the “All OK” after a fan motor kicked off a short evacuation. Firefighters and police were dispatched to the campus about 11:40, per radio traffic, as students were evacuated and corralled outside the school. more

Kilgore College Theatre will present “Crimes of the Heart” beginning April 25 in Van Cliburn Auditorium on the Kilgore campus. The play is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, April 25-27, with a matinee performance 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 28. General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for KC students with a student ID. more
The Historic Pirtle Bar-B-Q is back Saturday, April 27, with three hours of beef, crawfish, desserts and live entertainment from returning favorites, the men of Nouveaux Cajun Xpress. Set from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pirtle United Methodist Church, the annual event boasts the “Best Bar-B-Q Around” for $15 per plate, including a barbecue beef sandwich plus sides of beans and potato salad with iced two. Cakes and pies will be available for an additional charge. more
