Out of the freezer and into the fire

Canadian fire academy students braved Texas heat, humidity to learn life-saving skills

Sometimes, a great notion. In the land of the 2010 Winter Olympics – scenic Whistler, British Columbia – a Texas-trained firefighter recalls the days in Kilgore that changed his career. John Cipolla is a captain with Whistler Fire Rescue. Back in 1998, he was just trying to find a fire academy to attend to earn his Firefighter 2 designation.
