Fire consumes Maness Furniture store

Building dates to 1930s, originally housed Citizens Bank

A fire Wednesday evening destroyed Maness Furniture in Kilgore. The blaze at 306 E. Main got so hot it melted metal beams, resulting in collapse, said Ronnie Moore, public safety director for the City of Kilgore. “In some areas of the fire, I estimated it was at least 1500 degrees. It impinged on the metal rafters, which weakened and then folded in,” he said.
