As resources were rushed to South Texas where Hurricane Alex was expected to make landfall Wednesday evening, area residents were pulled into action. Kilgore News Herald writer Aaron May, an Army reservist, got the call around lunchtime Tuesday – his unit was being called up for hurricane duty.
