LETTER FROM A MARINE
In the local gym on Wednesday morning, I heard about the afternoon’s procession that would be escorting home the body of Marine Sgt. Kenneth May from East Texas Regional Airport to Rader’s Funeral home here in Kilgore.

Marine Brown: You did not list your rank, but "Once a Marine, always a Marine". Your words, were very emotional to me also, and being the child of a Marine, I know in my heart they are greatly appreciated by Marine Sgt. May's family. It is great to know that there are people left such as you. My friends and classmates were not so lucky in their returns from Viet Nam, as you know. Bless you, and thank you for protecting your fellow Americans and serving your country, just in case no one ever thanked you, I am. Jody King Cleveland, TX

Your letter to the editor brought me to tears. Freedom is not free. My husband was a Marine, my dad and brothers were all in different branches of the military and all of them bare the emotional and physical scars of war. God bless all of our current and former military with guts enough to do what is right against all odds to keep this country free.
