Overton wins

Top-ranked Mustangs finally open playoffs, beat NH, 10-0
It’s good to be No. 1. It’s not good to have to face them. The Overton High School Mustangs officially began their quest to get back to the University Interscholastic League Class 1A State Tournament on Thursday, run-ruling North Hopkins, 10-0, at New Diana’s Eagles Field.

Not to take any thunder away

Not to take any thunder away from Mitch's future reporting. I just want to give kudos where they are due. Friday night Garrett Williamson of Overton threw a No Hitter in the second and deciding playoff game against North Hopkins. This allowed Overton to move on to the next round. This was truly an amazing feat considering Garrett's pitching performance was twice interrupted due to UIL ruled lightning delays... totaling approximately an hour and a half. It is very hard for a pitcher to stop and restart and still be successful... much less throw a No Hitter. Overton is an exciting local team to watch. I don’t want to jinx them but they will very likely return back to Austin/Roundrock for a State Championship bid. If you like baseball and you get a chance to go watch them... you won’t be disappointed.
