Inmate labor benefits non-profit groups

Trustees who help in community also may reduce their jail time by two thirds

Take a population of 700 incarcerated men, many of them used to tough physical work. Offer a tenth of that population — the model inmates, the best-behaved of them — a chance to work in the sunshine, an honest day’s labor for an opportunity to reduce their sentence.
