Spradlin elected mayor; Marley, Kinsey, Montgomery join school board

Kilgore voters overwhelmingly endorsed Ronnie Spradlin for mayor in an election dominated by early voting. A lifelong Kilgore resident and long-time city councilman, Spradlin defeated former News Herald staffer Lester Murray, taking Saturday’s election 732 votes to Murray’s 93.

Congrats to all the winning candidates, but especially to Jimmy Kinsey. He is a great person who I know will try to make a difference for the better and ran with no personal agenda. Thank you, Jimmy, for truly caring about our community and children. You have set a great example.
