This is a terrific story! It is so nice to see a Mom and Pop run location doing so well. Hats off to you Walter and Sandra!

And again, nice that you let people know "again" where their personal information is. Social Security numbers are not needed to rent a movie. Driver's license YES. Just like the dentist does not need a social #. I never give it out. If a video store is asking for all your information, this will become an identity theft waiting to happen, especially if you have part time teenagers as employees. Rent at the boxes, you only need a credit card number, that you can dispute charges if that becomes a problem.

The three ring binder (not a roladex) on the counter is a list of members that owes late charges or has been terminated for some reason. It has the members name, their membership number and maybe their date of birth for ID, listed in it. The membership information is kept in a file drawer underneath the counter and never shown to anyone except the police when it becomes necessary to turn the member into the police for not returning movie or movies. Not returning movies or library books comes under the Law of Thief of Services.

I don't like that they ask for your social security number on your rental application. If they're still doing it the same old way, they keep your info on a roladex right there on the counter. First of all, that information isn't needed to rent movies. Secondly, this opens their customers up for trouble with identity theft.

I was so please to read the story about my parents. They are both a joy to me also. I learned the consumer came first and that is a skill I bring to my job in Tallahassee, FL. Thank you for acknowledging what love they have for their customers and the special people that they are.

Nice story!
