Blakeman: Kilgore shaped his music

Country recording artist Shy Blakeman says he owes much to his Kilgore roots. A 1998 Kilgore High School graduate, Blakeman first tuned up his songwriting skills while at Kilgore High School. A friend taught him guitar, and it didn’t take long for him to leave the reggae, hiphop and even rap habits he brought with him in a 1994 family move from California.
